Aegis / MAPS
A working system for AI-augmented academic knowledge work — built by, and for, someone whose day job is the work itself.
Aegis is a small, opinionated system that houses a multi-agent persona system and additional tools and protocols to help maintain an organized and productive research agenda, an impactful teaching practice, and meaningful service contributions. The framework helps me manage workflow, attention/focus, project management, and work-life balance by keeping track of me and the things I told it I wanted to achieve. As a high achieving neurodivergent professional, such a system is now invaluable to me.
It started as a personal tool. It has since become a piece of evidence in the research itself: a replicable model for what AI integration in academic knowledge work can look like when the person designing the integration is also the person doing the underlying scholarship.
A multi-agent persona system. Each persona owns one slice of the work; Bubo is the hub that routes between them and remembers what was said where. Argo is my PM that makes sure that the blocks of time between meetings are spent moving forward and closing loops. Cadmus is the body double for my ADHD, the writing buddy at the coffee shop who tells me it's okay to write a bad sentence to start, and the coach that argues with me when I'm lazy. Pharos is the one that looks for new articles for me to read and quizzes me on the content. Each has a role, and each has their quirks. Because I wanted to design a personal assistant, and realized I had to get personal.
